| DESIGN NAME: Advanced series PRIMARY FUNCTION: Desktop audio system INSPIRATION: Most electronic product design concepts are going to be much simpler, compact and modern these days, especially I thought the existing desktop audio devices needed this new concept so I created the small but smart audio concept and it is an Advanced series. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Advanced series is a complete desktop audio system including a server, a digital to digital converter, a combined DAC and headphone amplifier and a battery power supply in one shape of chassis. All details like simplified appearance, round body lines, round cutting front panel edges, two tone color chassis and classy air bent holes make some difference from others. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Just like other audio systems, connect each device by audio signal cables, wall adaptor and network cables, and make a home local network connection. And what you need to do is power the Advanced series on, and simply browse and play music by the remote control App on your smart devices or your personal computer. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2010 in Korea and finalize by July,2014, it was exhibited and demonstrated in many numerous audio shows world-widely like CES, Munich High-End, SIAS...... PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The Advanced series uses black colored anodizing extruded aluminum bodies and a white colored anodizing aluminum front panel. The black and white body colors are made by the special gloss control, and this harmony makes each device very classy appearance, Also the round shape edge on the front panel shows the gorgeous edge line made by the CNC manufacturing. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The Advanced series consists of four different devices like a network music player, a DAC & Headphone amplifier, a battery power supply and USB to digital audio converter. Each device is the same dimension as 105mm × 53mm x 150mm. All devices use various technologies which support the newest features of network audio system like supporting high sampling rate music file and various lossless audio file format playback. Also USB audio interface and clean battery power controlling are available. TAGS: audio, music server, network player, dac, amp, digital source, converter, music, amplifier, SOtM, soul of the music RESEARCH ABSTRACT: My research was started from audio products mainly and expanded to consumer electronics, cars and variety of other accessories through internet, magazines or real show sites. Also I asked numerous audiophiles in real audio industries to review my first design concept and I could modify my prototype based on some advise from them, finally my design came to fruition to the real products on the market. CHALLENGE: Make the unit not to be expensive was the hardest part of the designing the Advanced series, because the beautiful outline appearance was also the most important concept. The positioning was also difficult because each element should be well placed at the front and rear plates to become more classy appearance.
