| DESIGN NAME: Lollypop PRIMARY FUNCTION: Pencil Sharpener INSPIRATION: The product was inspirited by lollypop as the name suggests. When the pencil put in to place, it represents the handle and the circular and colorful sharpener represents the candy. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Lollypop is a wooden pen sharpener that has eight holes for pencils in different diameters and also different cross section. This eco-friendly sharpener consists of three main parts; top and bottom wooden covers and a round steel knife. Moreover every knife in the holes has different sharpening angle; thanks to these different knives, user can sharpens pen with pointedness level that is wanted. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Lollypop is a well-designed product that offers an flexible griping to user thanks to its dimensions and circular shape. Furthermore the icons guide to user about knifes angle and shape. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Lollypop sharpener was designed in February 2015 in Ankara. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Top and bottom covers are made of wood and the knife between is produced from stainless steel by using press method. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Lollypop has 100mm diameter and 25mm heigh and it is lightweight. TAGS: sharpener, trimming, shaving, eco- friendly, aesthetics RESEARCH ABSTRACT: It was observed and researched that there are a lot of different pencil sizes and also sections in the market. We, as designers who, cannot be think separate from pencils, we need different sharpeners for shaving pencils properly. So the idea is after this observation to design a sharpener that shaves pencils with different sections. CHALLENGE: The challenging part of project is that reaching the size information of pencils in the market.
