DESIGN NAME: Bartok
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ultra HD 4K MEDIA PLAYER
INSPIRATION: The inspiration behind Bartok is simply the 4K technology. It is aimed to create a formal language that could indicate the quality and novelty of it. To achieve this, a combination of two seemingly contrasting concepts was used; “dynamism” and “minimalism”. An asymmetrical insertion of an unusual movement, which is still following a meaningful layout supported by plain details, provided the achievement of the goal.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Bartok has a distinguishing square form with soft corners. A “crack” effect inserted asymmetrically on the top and front surfaces constitutes the main design characteristics of the product. This effect is supported also with a turquoise half-transparent PC part containing a LED light behind itself. The combination of these details creates a dynamic and fresh outlook indicating the high-end technology behind the product. The product is planned to be available also in black color.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Besides playing different media, Bartok can connect to the internet to download 4K videos and movies from video network services. It contains an internal hard disk to save media internally for later playing. All of these features are operated through a remote control. A LED light behind the PC lens gives feedback to user and provides a visual interaction, while all the ports (USB, HDMI, etc.) to connect to the device are gathered behind the product.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project started in January 2014 in Manisa, currently the molds are prepared for production.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: All of the parts of Bartok are produced with standard plastic injection molding processes, which also suit the constraints of RoHS and WEEE.
