| DESIGN NAME: BAMBOO FOREST PRIMARY FUNCTION: Closet INSPIRATION: This product is a result from the project which has a target to create new traditions ,by crashing the korean traditional furniture and the most high-tech engineering. The basic idea is the matching between the traditional open storage closet for storing or showing books and pottery and the string or threads for sewing . By matching two images, simple images of a traditional open storage closet is changed to more feminine and mysterious one as if a woman hide potteries in the bamboo forests ,and find potteries pushing the bamboo branches to serve a cup of tea for a loving man. The silhouette of this furniture can be changed naturally by binding method of strings. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A top wood panel of the furniture and the lowest panel is drilled to make a so many small holes vertically and connected by so many flexible strings to look like a string curtain. The details on which wood panels is connected with strings is made to look like sewing. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The operation or usage methods is so simple. many woman customers liked this funiture and bought. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The strings are not perfect to realize perfect restoration. This funitue was a recomposition of a traditioal funiture in the stand point of a lady. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions : 1,400(W) X 500(D) X 800(H) Materials: White Ash ,Paulownia coreana wood / Band/ Steel plate laser process TAGS: bamboo forest , semi-open storage, feminism,korea traditional furniture,flexible string curtain RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We researched and choosed what type of funiture is popular and used directly in real life. Korean life style has changed so fast that most traditional furnitures have no more usefulness. I did not want to dick into traditional materials and methods as many traditional craftsman did. I want to add feminism and mysteriousness to the old style funiture. CHALLENGE: the strings should be developed to have more perfect restoration.
