| DESIGN NAME: Mappel Bench PRIMARY FUNCTION: Urban Seat INSPIRATION: This urban seat is inspired by the form of a maple seed. When looking at a maple seat I discovered what a complete form it has and that inspired me to use the form for creating Mappel. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Using natural and organic forms and curves in this seat is pleasant for the user. The ergonomic and bionic forms provides comfortable sitting. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Mappel is a bench with an organic design. The soft flow of curves inspired by maple seed is also ergonomic to sit on. The seat is aesthetically pleasing for urban spaces with no hard tones to disturb the visual scenery. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This project started in early January 2015 and was finished up until late February of the same year. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The seat are made out of woodplast which is a more sustainable alternative to wood. The structure is made out of stainless steel for compelling look and durability. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Mappel is a double modular bench, this means that it can be used solo or in pairs. Each module is about 3*1.8 meters and resembles a seed cut in half. When placed together they complete the form of the seed. NAME: Abbasi design solutions PROFILE: Davood abbasi is a tehran based industrial designer,he was born in 1984,Iran. He got his bachelor degree in design from Iran art university. Being a top student he then was ranked 2nd in Iran industrial design Olympiad in 2012. He continued his studies with a major in industrial design in University of Tehran.He works in the field of Product design,Urban design,Furniture design,Packaging and Transport design.due to his lifetime passion he started the Abbasi design solutions. |
