UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Handcrafted scented candle made in upcycled wine bottle.
We pride ourselves on our commitment to preserving our environment. We use upcycled wine bottles and pure soya wax, wooden wicks, lead free cotton wicks and skin safe fragrances blended with essential oils. The candle lid is made of cork. The candle lid is made of cork, packaging is the cotton bag, main ingredient is natural soya wax. We use numbers from 1 to 10 instead of scents names.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The operation starts with collecting empty wine bottles from the local restaurants in Kildare area every Monday morning.
Collected bottles are then manually cut and polished. Each wine bottle is unique and there is no two identical pieces. Finished bottles are filled with the highest quality pure soya wax and left for certain amount of time for maturing. Each candle is then labelled and packaged in 100% cotton bag and finally distributed to customers.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project commenced in January 2014 with the market research and general conceptual work. This has continued until July 2014. The finished product has been introduced to the market in September 2014.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The market research was conducted in early 2014 year. One part of the research was the online data collection and second part involved interviewing a number of local business owners and business managers. The data gathered at the interviews was saved and recorded in our market research sheet for further analysis.
Our research team included Ms. Gosia Sobkowicz and Mr. Marcin Sobkowicz
CHALLENGE: The biggest obstacle so far was the collection of the sufficient number of used wine bottles for the project. We asked local restaurants owners if they were interested in upcycling used bottles and participating in our project. We also asked our friends to collect empty wine bottles and their response was amazing.
Majority of people loved the idea of upcycling and helped with the project.
