| DESIGN NAME: Crate PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bathroom Furniture System INSPIRATION: Crate inspration comes from a caractersitic and simple design language, which also contains the warm effect of wood. The day begins in bathroom and you need differnt stuff to storage. In this case Crate offers to users different kind of storage areas and ergonomic touchs in a modern and warm look. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project aim is to design a bathroom as a living space, with functionality and modern style. While using this norms it also has a modular system which is a choice for architects. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The life begins in bathroom every morning. The users will find this product ergonomic, estethic, durable and functional. Also the system offers an easy usage for architects. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2014 in Ankara and finished in January 2015 in Istanbul, and was exhibited in Unicera Bathroom Fair in Istabul, in February 2015. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The wooden parts are made by natural lamination which includes diffirent textures inside. The main body of Crate ’s wooden parts are more textured and the vertical thiny laths (handles) are laminated in milling technic. This lacquerd system is totally uniqe for bathrrom furniture against the water and humidity. In the sanitaryware system; vanity basins has two different measures, 80cm and 100cm wide. Vanity of both size have the same molding of sink compartment, which makes the production optimized and economic. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: All the modeles have a dimension dna which is easy to control. For example the two vainty basins has 80cm and 100cm width and the bowl unit has 120cm width. In total which moves 40cm in total. The other side modules have 40cm width which talks to each other when it is aplicated to bathroom. The wooden warm ambiance and functionalites are the detailed briefings. Well attention was paid on detailed workmanship on furniture parts. Crate offers to end users a contemporary life style. The external design office of the Crate name is Artful Design Studio in Ankara. CHALLENGE: The Project was build up on contemporary, modern and wooden breifs in bathroom. So creating all these factors together brings a standart design norms which you are so limited. We sucseed to make a characteristic design solition and unique design language. Also difficult part of this Project was using too much diifernt matterials in the same wet and humidty area. Espaecially edges and coners of wood is so critical that you need to produce with best workmanship.
