| DESIGN NAME: Airboard PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ironing Board INSPIRATION: The question “why should there not be professional ironing boards at home as well?”, has designed the Airboard .It is not as simple as buying a very good iron to solve the “ironing problem”. It is also important on which surface the fabric to be ironed will be laid upon during ironing since what makes it easier to iron is not just the iron appliance itself but also the surface whereon the ironing will be made. Thus, the logic is quite straightforward: Correct surface, easy and successful ironing. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With integrated fan inside, users can choose functions between blowing and vacuuming air through fabric.With blowing function, creating a gap between the hard surface and fabric provides the optimum ironing ability esp on delicate fabrics such as silk and works perfect on multi-layered clothes such as jackets without leaving marks on top layer.Vacuum system sticks the fabric on the surface to keep it stretched and also absorbes the extra steam in the environment . OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With Airboard, it is possible to select optimum surface for different fabrics ensuring that an optimum outcome can be obtained within shortest time. With a single hand touch, Airboard can be removed from ground and can be adjusted at a height from 65 cm to 100 cm.It is equipped with an integrated plug , 2 meter long cord and automatic cordwinder. Strong aluminum profile footing and slip-proof base ensures Airboard to stand firm on ground. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Has a background more then 10 years of research. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: All plastic parts are produced from recyclable thermoplastic materials. The strong foots are produced from aluminium profiles.The flameproof sheath that is elasticated on all sides can easily be fit on the board.The top board is made of 1mm aluminium sheet material.The plastic iron rest place is made of PA%30GF which gives extra strength and heat resistance. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Able to be removed of floor easily with a single hand movement, Airboard can be adjusted at a height from 65 cm to 100 cm. The plastic wide iron placement surface containing fireproof silicon strips and made of special thermoplastic material provides both a user-friendly and an extra safe solution. General box dimensions are 50cm x 170 cmx 17cm. TAGS: ironing board, iron, aircushion system, moisture absorption system, automatic cordwinder RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Airboard was developed as a result of several observations made at locations where ironing work is done professionally and continually, iron appliance and surface duo is conceptualized together to present a solution undertaking the tiresome ironing work.Delicate fabrics can never be ironed at home and taken to professionals for ironing. Airboard saves usersfrom the trouble of taking such fabric to dry cleaners over and over again each time and solves the ironing problem at home. CHALLENGE: Two important aspects of the design that needed to be accomplished were for the product to stand firm on ground and also to be easily lifted up and down without much effort. This problem was resolved by developing a special mechanism enabling a soft elevation and lowering.For height setting, the aesthetic and functional latches present on both right and left side enables automatic lift off for the ironing board.
