PRIMARY FUNCTION: Storage System
INSPIRATION: Our inspiration is the search for the essential. In the context of the digital age, we feel the need to return the feelings generated by the fine materials in its purest state and overturn them into contemporary design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Domino has a unique balance between its parts, combining contemporary production and craftmanship.
Domino is a storage system constituted by a module and a series of components, developed to support different activities of home living.
It was designed as a product that aims to enhance and functionalize the space. The user has the possibility to configurate the system depending on its needs.
Their neutral shapes and customizable internal colors, approach the product to users, allowing its appropriation.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The product seeks to captivate the user stimulating their senses. Domino unexpectedly combines the warmth of natural wood in its exterior, with full colors that are revealed when the cabinet are opened by the user.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2014 and finished in November 2014 in Montevideo, Uruguay.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The system combines in a perfect way contemporary industrial processes with traditional carpentry.
It is built with solid oak boards 8mm thick for its external and mdf 15 and 12 mm thick for the interior, both materials comply with environmental regulations admissions FSC, ensuring sustainable forest management.
Domino used hydro lacquer for finishing surfaces that comply with the requirements posed by international regulation rules emissions of VOC.
The production process involves cutting, calibrated, drilling, assembly and painting.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Domino is conformed by a simple and rational way, which allows maximum efficiency in the activities for which it was developed and in the production process.
The system consists of a module and a set of components allowing several combinations.
The system can be used in two ways, with height adjustable legs sliders and with metal wall hangers.
Module (unit): 80 x 40 x 40 cm (L x W x H).
Components: glass shelf, doors and drawers.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The research process work on two premises: The first research includes main aspects of function and ergonomics through the study of this relationship, for domestic activities, in the living space. The results are reflected in the specifications and dimensions of the product.
The second line of research explored the symbolic value that materials has had on furniture historically.
CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was finding the balance between contemporary production and craftsmanship which ended becoming its main differential and attractor.
