DESIGN NAME: smart board
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Eco Board
INSPIRATION: Observing children playing with hand-made recycled materials, we had the idea to create this design. The creation of such design inspired us by a wide variety of packaging that can be recycled, which has positive effects on environmental protection.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project was created by collecting packaging, creating individual recycling packaging materials, monitoring children's play activities created with materials and fitting separated materials in 3 parts of the eco table .With this project we have shown how it can be easily created a stimulating environment for children and how packaging can be reused in a creative way.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The eco board represent a didactic tool that in a fun and easy way help children to acquire knowledge, skills, to become acquainted with ecological terminology.Motives on the boards are made of different materials and textures which stimulate sensory development. This design attracts and motivates children with its structure and motifs including error control, facilitating the acquisition of knowledge and experience in an easy and fun .
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project was initiated in 2012 in preschool "our child" Sabac.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The product is handmade by recycled different kinds of packaging. The base of the board is made of cardboard coated with a protective transparent foil. The motifs of the boards are made of: leather, wood, different kind of fabric, iron, plastic caps from food packaging, zippers, pebbles, wool, sandpaper, plastic buttons, laces.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The aim of the study was to examine the opinions of parents and educational staff on this design, handmade recycling of packaging, packaging recycling options in this way as well as the importance of using the board in practice. Anonymous questionnaire by the educational staff and parents came to the positive results and the need for promoting this idea. The monitoring of the quality of children's activities with recycled materials was also performed.
CHALLENGE: The most difficult part of the activity was to fit the most attractive parts into the meaningful themes interesting to children. Choosing the parts that will retain the longest attention of most children of all ages. The most attractive parts which were used by children aged 2-12 years, are embedded in the content of the boards
