PRIMARY FUNCTION: Exhibition Catalogue
INSPIRATION: From the very beggining simplicity was the desired value. The simplicity and clean design found in ancient handcraft like amphora. Patterns and elements from ancient Greece became the raw material in our hands. We kept simplicity combined with modernism instead of classicism. Fully respecting the very important heritage they carry from the past,we tried to establish a new cultural identity. [Please see research abstract]
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Exhibition catalogue for "Crisis is a Greek word", the Greek Designers' global initiative to describe Greece in the times of Crisis that inspired 46 top Greek Designers to participate for the first time at a common exhibition, its sole aim being to convey a message of creativity to the world. Simple and clean design for this catalogue that presents all artworks, in a modern and creative style. The cover implements exhibition's identity, as a part from the logo, with special cuts combined with the inner cover.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The cataloque is a guide for an exhition but at the same time is part of the exhibition. This one uses an interactive language with the artworks providing further information about them and at the same time works as an exhibit itself following the same style and spirit
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Project started in 2013 in Athens but finally, due to financial reasons, completed and printed in April 2014 for the exhibition in Athens

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We used double cover and 2 color printing with blade cuts. Cuts on the cover are parts of the visual id of the exhibition, to communicate the violent and strict form of "crisis". We also tried to visualize a non permanent disruption on the cover similar to crisis in our every day life.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Creativity, as a tool in the artists' hands, works our way out of the Crisis, the Crisis that has invaded our way of life and feelings, the Crisis we study and face every single day. Fully respecting the very important heritage they carry from the past, the Greeks try to establish a new cultural identity that will help them overcome the problems caused by depression. Designers hold an essential role in the country's creative and cultural development, so they choose to lead the way towards the achievement of this new identity.
CHALLENGE: Creating a catalogue for a design exhibition is always a challenge. There is a a lot of inspiration but on the other hand you design for designers and people who love design. Design with high rensposibility for an educated and strict audience.
