| DESIGN NAME: Project 59 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential Penthouse INSPIRATION: the view... UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This residential penthouse has been completely renovated with a minimalist approach. open plan for a living, dining, lounge and kitchen area - bringing the outside-inside. maximum ceiling height with double windows on the facade and apparent structural concrete beams. Each material use have been presented with its natural look, giving this open space texture and character. with maximum use of the natural light crossing the space from one end to the other, the artificial light at night frames each area to give a more cosy and individual atmosphere. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: the complete integration of natural light and view through out the space was the key. All areas and volumes are oriented towards the view. 270 degrees that you can appreciate from the centre of the apartment ( sea, marina, desert view) giving it a very unique character. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design phase started in september 2013 for 2 months. Followed by the construction phase that was for 4 months ( complete demolition of the space to Core and Shell and re construction) The final fit out needed 1 month (for all custom made furnitures and final automation) The penthouse is located in Dubai Marina tower , Dubai in the United Arab Emirates FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Interior Space and Exhibition Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: avoiding corridors and having a perspective in every area was the approach. we kept only 3 main doors and installed them for a full heights with pivoting system. Bright colours to mark each room. Complete relocation and re installation of all Ac system for a maximum ceiling height that allowed us to gain more than 140cm along the facade - therefor gaining more windows and natural light. keeping the structural support apparent. Engineering parquet was installed without any connection and expansion joints cutting the area - a custom made skirting/ flushed in the wall and L shape wall mount plate on the floor to keep the 2,5 cm necessary for such wood to expand on 37m long without interruption. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 750 m2 appartement / average of 3,2m ceiling height up to 4,6m. 2 bedrooms - full open space loft concept. TAGS: penthouse, minimalist, open space, loft, marie laurent RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: As the top floor of a tower, the layout and mechanical plumbing and electrical layout was set. We had to work from there and adapt our new layout accordingly. Going back to Core and Shell before the construction was essential for us to be able to create such an open space with all ventilation and air pressure control necessary.
