| DESIGN NAME: Super Super Congee and Noodles PRIMARY FUNCTION: Fast Food Restaurant INSPIRATION: The Richness of Chinese Cuisine UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Inspired by the richness of Chinese food culture, Super Congee is a Chinese restaurant with contemporary approach. The whole concept revolves around kitchen utensils found in traditional Chinese cooking. The core idea is to breakaway from the conventional business idea and interior design of Chinese congee restaurant. Clean lines and modern form shape up the brand identity to create a casual and comfortable dining experience. Their primary colour tone is black and white combine with light tone, while copper and wood made up most of the design. All furniture design are kept to minimalistic or in abstract form to highlight the texture of the material. The black and white graphic made up by Chinese cooking supplies silhouette adapt with modern interior design, giving a sense of modern chinoiserie, where tradition and contemporary are merged together. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Communal table is a new element that was incorporated in the space. It gives off a great vibrant energy for a traditional quick served restaurant. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Customized wall paper, ceramic tile, plastic laminate SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 1800 sq ft TAGS: Chinese restaurant, quick serve restaurant, dim sum, congee, hong kong, Super Super Congee, J. Candice Interior Architects, wallpaper RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We researched into the heart of traditional Chinese cuisine. Understanding the daily cooking tools found in Chinese kitchen and incorporated into the restaurant. CHALLENGE: One of the challenge is to find the balance between old and new and to integrating traditional Chinese elements with modern elements. In the end, we custom-designed a wallpaper for the client to use in the interior. It creates a dynamic backdrop for the shop and brings out a modern Chinese flare.
