| DESIGN NAME: FR!TSforKIDS PRIMARY FUNCTION: Kids stool INSPIRATION: Young people often choose for high tables kitchen furnish because of their very active lifestyle. BUT, once their family expands with little kids, there is a problem: No kids stools meet high tables. Only clumsy accessories can be bought to raise a normal kids stool at high table level... So we've designed a very simple, but highly qualitative and subtle design kids stool that not only fits high tables, but also normal and low tables. On top of that, the seat can be used as a stand-alone kids seat to have some fun with! UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The first Kids stool that fits any table. From high tables to normal tables and low (kids) tables. As-well as the stool can be used as a colorful kid seat in the TV corner. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: From the ideation process we went very quickly to the validation and in depth analysis of child legal standards and translation of ergonomics into the concept development. After intensive testing with children aged from 9 months to 6 years old, we have finally styled the product in close relationship with our in house prototype builders and external manufacturers. To end with the very pleasing and satisfying new product! PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in November 2012 and took us about 12 months towards its finalization. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: - Rotation moulding - Injection moulding - Wood milling SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: High Table Stool: 850 to 950 mm high Normal Table Stool: 700 to 800 mm high Kids Table Stool: 300 to 400 mm high Seat: 350 x 350 x 350 mm TAGS: kids, stool, table, adjustable, furniture RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our research started by analyzing focus groups of young couples and young parents, revealing lot's of information around the targeted audience. The objectives were to get an idea of specific needs and future usp's. Our user centered design approach provided us with big solutions for parents and huge understanding of the very diverse usergroup, the kids. Resulting in very simple product solutions, easy and safe to use. Attracting young people with a modern heart and urban life style. CHALLENGE: The hardest part of the challenge was to provide a very widely adjustable product, that is at the same time looking very simple, easily producible and meeting all regulations and ergonomics from a 9 month old baby to a 6 years old child.
