DESIGN NAME: Aqua Lingua
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Conceptual project
INSPIRATION: Umberto Eco's book "Opera Aperta" - the idea of the "open work" when spectator becomes a creator inspired me to create "open work" in graphic design.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main idea of the project is to offer a possibility to see our words, music or other sounds. The water surface is stirred by individual sound using the novel patented technology of converting durable sound into a single image. All the audio waves regenerate into water waves and are photographed. Amazing photo revealing the invisible beauty and harmony of sound. The picture contains a QR code that enables to listen to the original visualized sound at anytime. Every visualization is unique – as unique is human voice, its timbre, intonation, sense and meaning of words. Everyone can create an artwork from own words or sounds.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: -
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2013 and continues.
FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The process begins with recording a sound. When the record reaches Aqua Lingua studio the audio track using personal software is turned upright and all the audio frequencies are scanned as a whole and transmitted to water. in a resonant ware.
The surface of the vibrating water is lit by a preferable color and the photo of the sound is taken. The picture contains a QR code that enables to listen to the original visualized sound at anytime.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Digital files and framed works

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The history of Aqua Lingua started as an artistic research (www.atvira.info) combining the theory of open work and a premise of unutilized information. This combination made it possible for the general public to pick different radio frequencies and visually observe so called radio noise. Further development of the project gave birth to an idea how to visualize human speech, words, music or other sounds through the medium of photography, capturing all audio frequencies of a durable sound in one still.
CHALLENGE: The improvement of the technology of the transforming a durable sound into one image.
