Unlike other solid opaque door requires to swing them aside in order to get the space ventilated and bright enough for the sun to penetrate. It provides privacy yet able to achieve disclosure by just flipping the solid wood panels.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Most of doors design are just designed for privacy purpose with only one function. By adding the concept of jalousie window, it helped to transform a simple door to be more interactive and user-friendly. People tend to swing the door a aside in order to see the another side of the door in traditional way. Thus with the application of jalousie concept, it saved up trouble and able to control the privacy level.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It took about 2 weeks to amend/modify the design to have the best outcome possible. Then it continued another 2 weeks to sort out fittings and get it constructed. This design was conducted in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: As Malaysia is tropical country, jalousie window are likely to be seen in most of traditional houses to get the space ventilated. The idea of designing JPDoor is mainly to show a different way of applying the concept in bigger scale and different direction. Also, it helps end user to see through another of the door by flipping one of the solid panel and the rest will just follow its direction as it's all connected.
CHALLENGE: It was designed for the purpose of having the space ventilated without swinging the pivot door aside, which might cause areas to be block by its size. Thus, emerging the idea of jalousie system provides not only a solution, but also creates interaction with users. Having the right fittings is crucial to support the door weight and yet to keep its initial purpose of designing.
