| DESIGN NAME: OKSANA coat hangers PRIMARY FUNCTION: Coat Hanger and Coat Rack INSPIRATION: When we realized the great old craftsmanship of traditional belts with local patterns we decided to use it for a contemporary design. Researching in a the field of everyday objects in the home field, we found a way the use straps in combination with wood the design a beautiful but simple coat hanger that works only by a system of push and pull. After building the coat hangers we adapt the same system to a entire coat rack where we ad functions the hang bag and umbrellas. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Oksana is a decorative and ultra-light weight hanger. A revolving textile belt is shaped by a wooden slat and forms the silhouette. Ease of threading through the collar is guaranteed by the use of a reduced and flexible design and the clothing is placed in a gentle manner on the textile belt. Basically the hanger works only by a system of push by the wooden part and pull by the fabric belt. There is the possibility of having an individual design. Woven and stitched logos for company specific use as well as traditional craftsmanship of local or traditional patterns are possible and therefore oksana is offering new ways of application. The shown workmanship is made from traditional woven textile belts from Western Ukraine. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Traditional woven belts are sewn by hand to a revolving belt. As an inlay there is hook at the top. A wooden bar is applied on the bottom. For the coat rack there are a few hooks applied in two the room high belts. Again a wooden rack connecting the two belts and built the rack. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: coat hanger: woven belt, oak wood, inox-steal hook. 20 x 20 x 320 mm coat rack: woven belt, oak wood, inbox-steal hooks. 1800 mm TAGS: coat hanger, coat rack, interior design, traditional belts, unique coat rack RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: the challenge on this product was it the combine the traditional pattern and craftsmanship in a contemporary design context.
