| DESIGN NAME: Tian Yue PRIMARY FUNCTION: Large Apartment INSPIRATION: “Arc is belonged to the God”. Why coud not give the customers one resided space with arc? UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The case is a large flat layer apartment on the top floor. Developers intended it to be resided by one family of many people. But the case is a family of only three. So the finesorted functions of the original building appear trivial and cramped. In view of this, we have done large changes to the plane layout of the whole space. We have broken the conventional family pattern. We keep the basic functions needs and most of the functional areas have been blurred. But the functions of the house itself have not been missed. Designers use a beautiful curve running through the different areas. Home is not a layer of the same. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The case started in Jan. 2012 in Nanjing, China and finished in Oct. 2012 in Nanjing, China. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Materials: Solid wood multi-layer floors; Mosaics; Inferior smooth bricks; Artificial environmental plates; Steel frames; Toughened glass; Plasterboards; Artificial stones SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Construction area:260 square meters TAGS: Attractive Arc/Curve Design/Geometrical Line/Contracted space /Fashion Home RESEARCH ABSTRACT: China is a country of 5000 years long history civilized country. People here have relatively traditional plot to the residential. The design style of interior decoration is limited by a lot. People are much less willing to try new ideas and are not willing to accept fresh design elements. It is not a good thing to the design. The case is a good try. The owners and designers are both the participants of this case. Under the support of the owners, we finished the non-traditional sense works together. In the case, we could hardly see the use of traditional Chinese elements. But it was very convenient and comfortable to use. The works has got highly regarded from “Taiwan Interior Design Award” and “China Interior Design Awards 2013”. Such design idea could promote the further development of Chinese design. Cultural heritage could be diversity. Even we have studiously avoided the traditional elements in the process of design, it is actually a works designed by Chinese designers. It is still a part of Chinese culture. CHALLENGE: As we know, as an interior designer, it is a big challenge itself to use arc a lot. It is not only need to consider the functions use of the residents but also need to consider the visual perception of the residents. In the process of construction, it is also big challenges to make arc shape walls and furniture. A lot of arc is irregular. Sometimes, the designers personally should involve in the form of the initial layout, then it could insure the normal constructions of the different shapes. Of course, it is a very interesting job.
