| DESIGN NAME: Gretchen - Tango Pouch PRIMARY FUNCTION: Handbag, Evening Bag INSPIRATION: The idea is not new, it dates back to the 1920 s when this type of pouch bag was very much in fashion in Europe. But my pouch is a very elaborate re-interpretation of the concept, it has a very redefined foldable closure, a bit like the music instrument the accordion. It folds together so precisely every time again, because I constructed the folds and pleats with a lot of attention to detail. I was also inspired by the nature and shapes from leaves. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: You'll never find anything comparable to this truly innovative design! What a modern yet wearable piece of art. Structuring elements underneath the fine leather surface add that extra-notch of style refinement. Worn by the wristlet-handle it allows you to have your hands free all evening... all night long! Inside enough space for a girls first aid kit like lipstick, mascara, powder, Blackberry, iPhone... OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: It can be worn either hand-held or dangling freely down from the wrist, allowing the wearer to have both hands free. The sophisticated folding-magnet closure construction allows an unexpectedly easy and wide opening. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The idea for the Tango Pouch came up first of all on a business trip in Japan. I remember how I enjoyed the landscape, the people and the nature. Realized was this project than later in Germany. It took six months from the first sketches to the production and the final realization. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Soft waxed calf skin leather made for an incredibly pleasant touch of the handle and puffy side inserts, intentionally contrasting with the more constructed main body made from so-called glazed leather. Elaborate hand-applied profiling details underneath the leather of the plum-shaped main body add dimension and richness to the clean shape. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Height : 23 cm (9") Width : 20 cm (8") Depth : 9 cm (3,5") Handle range : 15 cm (6") TAGS: fashion, accessories, clutches, exclusive, design, avant-garde, modern, minimalist, luxury RESEARCH ABSTRACT: After I came up with an imagination of the Pouch during my trip to Japan inspired by shapes of leaves in the nature, the accordion and pouches back in 1920 - I did research for pictures and started drawing first sketches. CHALLENGE: It was challenging to transform the idea of the pouch into the modern age. It should be modern in its look, should have something new in its concept, but be timeless at the same time. The natural texture of these leathers exudes timeless luxury and lets the colorful collections shine. Challenging the conventional Anne-Christin takes on a different angle and gives way to new concepts when designing her bags, purses, gloves and other fine leather items.
