DESIGN NAME: Antonio Bernardo - Leblon
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Store
INSPIRATION: The inspiration for this project was the client itself. He is from Rio de Janeiro and has that simple yet sophisticated way of living. His desire is to make clients feel at ease when buying or looking at his jewelry.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The jewelry store portrays in its architecture the personality of the client. Thus, it is a cozy and informal environment but at the same time very sophisticated, alike his creations in exhibition. To convey this Dado selected material such as light-toned washed Brazilian walnut in slatted panels, Corten steel and cementitious floors. The decoration features linen, leather, shelves with books and art work; everything with the intention of breaking free from the rigidity of the commercial space.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This store is completely open to the shopping mall area, making it easy for people to walk in and view the jeweler masterpieces. There is nothing that stops the flow of people, but there is a VIP room for customers to look at more expensive jewels.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: It took up to 3 months to build this store in Rio de Janeiro at the year of 2009.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The challenge in this project was to maintain the same style that all of Antonio Bernardo's stores have while immersing this architecture in the middle of a shopping mall. And have it all work together in harmony. Normally, stores have a very serious tone in their architecture and layout but Dado wanted to part away from that.
