| DESIGN NAME: COGITO™ POP PRIMARY FUNCTION: Bluetooth Connected Watch INSPIRATION: First and foremost, the COGITO POP watch is a fun and trendy designer watch. Why? Because let’s face it, most young people don't want to wear a bulky watch, or some technological gadgets that they can’t use. They want something that fits their style and their budget. The COGITO POP watch is specially designed for younger customers. Its color and design are attractive to teens, athletic and active folks who want a trendy watch. Moreover, the MSRP is low enough to fit in most young people’s budgets. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The COGITO POP is designed specifically for teenagers and young socially active adults who need to know RIGHT NOW when they receive a notification. Therefore, it is equipped with four unique brightly colored LEDs that light-up when you receive a notification while also alerting you through a vibration and sound. Furthermore, COGITO POP is equipped with an intuitive new Tap to Act™ contextual interface driven by a smart accelerometer system. Tap to Act™ lets users dismiss notifications with a quick double-tap of the watch's face, or acknowledge notifications with a single tap. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in March 2013 in Seattle, USA and will be finished in Hong Kong in December 2013. Worldwide launch will be in January 2014. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Forget the bulky chargers and tangled power cords. The low-energy consumption of Bluetooth Smart technology allows COGITO POP to run on a conventional button-cell battery without requiring a recharge. The battery guarantees uninterrupted power for many months without a charge and, when necessary, you can easily replace it. We did numerous studies and experiments of different materials to design the unique product for different market demand. CHALLENGE: The COGITO POP is a mixed Analog and Digital watch with two completely independent systems. Each system has its own battery, to keep the watch in reasonable thickness and the battery life last for about a year is hardest part of the design.
