| DESIGN NAME: Disease - Life is Golden PRIMARY FUNCTION: Posters INSPIRATION: We decided for this project to use a different form of visual language. We are accustomed to see disease represented with gruesome images and therefore we often don't stop to observe! With this piece we want to capture the attention of the viewer and therefore we used an appealing visual. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This project was born from the desire to create some concepts that can describe a social setting in an unusual way and sensitize the viewer in a friendly way. The idea behind is to took disease and make them visually appealing and intriguing. Disease is something bad, but it could be seen in a different way. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2013 and finished in May 2013 in Rome, and was featured on the main galleries of Behance.net and on the main websites of design and communication. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: We developed the images in computer graphic. The software we used for the modeling is Cinema 4d R14. For the texturing and the lightning of the scene we used Vray, a software that allows to obtain realistic results with textures of high visual impact. At the end of the project we used Adobe Photoshop CS6 to refine the images and add text. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This is not a phisical product but we developed the proportions of each image so that it can be easily printed on 70 x 100cm and bigger. TAGS: disease, life is golden, life, death, research, help the research, gold RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The way we build our 3d model is not casual. After a long research we decided which material and form to use for texturing them. We used a dark cloth which rests from above to represents the part of the body that has been damaged and we decided to use the spheres to represent the virus that is trying to get into the bloodstream. The texture of gold is very significative for us. It represents the value of life and we applied this gold to each of the key elements of each scene. We tried to use some of the most well-known diseases, even though some of those we have represented are more easily treated than others. We hope that people understand that life is golden, like the title of our project, and should invest more in the research to defeat the disease we represented. CHALLENGE: The project was not technically difficult to achieve and the hardest part was all the previous brainstorming. We figured out what we wanted as result only after several days of research. We thought that one of the most difficult to deal with was the impact with the public.
