| DESIGN NAME: Rotation Saw PRIMARY FUNCTION: Power Saw INSPIRATION: The user may be injured when the saw slips from his grasp or when he falls while working in an unstable position or when he slips on an inclined site. Such safety issues causing injuries result from not being able to control the angles of power chain saws for cutting. So the user has to turn the electric saw by force or tilt his body, ending up in injuries against his will. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: A Power Chain Saw with a Revolving Handle. This chain has a handle that revolves 360° and stops at predefined angles. In general, people cut trees horizontally or vertically by turning their saws at certain angles or leaning or tilting their body parts. Unfortunately, the saw often slips from the user’s grasp or the user has to work in an awkward position, which may cause injuries. To make up for such drawbacks, the proposed saw is fitted with a revolving handle so that the user can adjust the cutting angles. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The user may be injured when the saw slips from his grasp or when he falls while working in an unstable position or when he slips on an inclined site. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2013 in South Korea and finished in june 2013 in Designsori Academy. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: CARBON GUIDE BAR -The most important ‘Top Guide Bar’ requires a light and strong material. So carbon is used instead of the typical aluminum material to reduce the weight of the saw. TWIN POWER ENGINE -Two engines used lower the noise and raise the capacity. The engine sizes are minimized to reduce the weight. PROTECTION COVER -The reinforced transparent plastic material used in the saw is unbreakable. If it happens to be broken somehow, the cross section is not sharp. Accordingly, it prevents possible accidents, ensuring safety for users. HANDLE -which is considered to provide the most stable grip, and adopts aluminum for the interior and plastic for the exterior.
