| DESIGN NAME: Marken Desk PRIMARY FUNCTION: Home Desk furniture INSPIRATION: Scandinavian design mixed with Wall-E´s face ended in this kinda retro simple design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The gentle welcoming and almost kneeling posture of the legs, the watchful eyed drawers, the sense of delicate balance and the lightweight and yet strong visual appeal give this desk a firm character. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The desk is just like any other desk when it comes to its use. However, instead of having two inner compartments (i mean the two front drawers), it has four. Two other compartments can be found over the top. Two lids located at the back corners give space to more objects, like netbooks, notebooks, tablets, etc, etc. The whole desk is easily disassembled and stored in a thin rectangular box. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Ash and laquered mdf SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Width 176 cm X depth 76cm X Height 74 cm. TAGS: Desk, home office, RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Scandinavian design research as my primary goal. Wanted to create a modern looking object, while at the same time keeping a classic nordic feeling to it. I´ve always had a certain weakness and nostalgia for times past, possibly due to my passion for twentieth century history. For one of the few times in my life as a designer, I wanted to create a design in terms of what I call art. That means, the search for beauty above all things. Even though function is always present as a priority in my work, even in this one, I wanted to set myself apart from my classic philosophy of "Form follows function" as a fundamental rule. I started playing with human shapes, trying to humanize and putting some emotions into it, always in a very controlled enviroment. The marken desk is emotional, yes. But a very subtle, sober and always contained emotion, always keeping in mind it´s a scandinavian hommage. CHALLENGE: Trying to pour in a personal and yet faithful interpretation of Scandinavian design. NAME: M3 Claudio Sibille PROFILE: M3 focuses its work on the result of the real estate trends , while they may be obvious , it is not particularly exploited a niche . The homes tend to be getting smaller while still increasing the square footage value. And herein lies the dilemma of how to furnish an environment of reduced dimensions without losing the typical elements that every home needs for its quality of daily life . Why not having everything a big living room has if it’s within our reach without losing style and design, and further more, without sacrificing precious space. Well, M3 is all about multi functionality and space saving. With the help of designer Claudio Sibille, and other major designers soon to be part of our team, we are committed to provide the consumer with a new way of thinking furniture in terms of functionality and design to ensure that no matter how tiny a space is, we can still preserve the same quality of life we may have in larger apartments. Imagine a two seat sofa that can be transformed into the same piece plus two more lounge chairs for visitors, a couple of chairs popping up surprisingly out of the blue from a storing drawer cabinet, a small cabinet with drawers that can easily be transformed into a full transportable desk with a chair included within a blink of a eye, or a chair that can be transformed into a bed or in two extra banks without losing the original chair for unexpected guests . Well, this is what we do, this is our mission. |
