DESIGN NAME: Metrotopia
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Public and Privet Transportation
INSPIRATION: Inspiration for the project was based on my discovery of gaps within a city's public transportation system.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Metrotopia is a research project to develop a vehicle to bridge the gap between public and privet transportation systems. Metrotopia gives people the lifestyle to freely
drive around their local neighbourhood or dock to a tram for a longer faster journey.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Metrotopia is a 2 seater vehicle which's runs on one rotating sphere allowing for great manoeuvrability in tight urban spaces. The electric motor and power cell is housed inside the ball for a lower centre of gravity and superior handling. Metrotopia recharges automatically while docked inside it's trams. The controls of Metrotopia are similar to that of any normal car.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2010 and finished in March 2012

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Metrotopia would be made with light weight aluminium.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Metrotopia Car, 1200 x 1330 x 2180
Metrotopia Tram, 2710 x 24,000 x 3430

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: -
CHALLENGE: The challenge was to design an integrated solution which will not require any major redesign of the current public transportation system while improving the travel of commuters. By designing a solution around the current public transportation system I am able to design a system that will be relative low cost to setup.
