| DESIGN NAME: Teslight PRIMARY FUNCTION: Floating magnetic lamp INSPIRATION: Tesla magnetic experiments and theories. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This is a magnetic-floating lamp. The lamp floats thanks to the attractive power of two magnets. The lamp shape comes from the desire to have the best performance about lightness and distance between the two magnets. Every details is drown to emphatize the floating effect without loosing the first function as a lamp. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in 2009 and finished in 2011 in Genova-Italy. FITS BEST INTO CATEGORY: Lighting Products and Fixtures Design |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: CNC machined alluminum parts for the lamp. Steel for the base. Carbon fiber for the safety-tube. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The lamp stays 180cm from the ground to not disturb the eyes and to garantee to the light a good diffusion in the place is set-up. the lamp itself have 8,5 cm diameter x 20 cm. the diffuser have a diameter of 9 cm. the base have 12 cm diameter x 15 cm The package is 30 cm diameter x 80 cm. 12V alimentation for new Osram Decostar ES 35w to 50w TAGS: Magnetic lamp, Magnetic light, magnet, teslight, floating, suspension light, CNC, light RESEARCH ABSTRACT: We made different tests with different prototypes to reach this result. We tested different kind of magnets and different types of lighting sources. We choosed this combination to have the best performance about lightness and distance between the two magnets.
