DESIGN NAME: EcoPack
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Shirt Packaging
INSPIRATION: Looking to make existing shirt packaging sustainable while enhancing interface
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This shirt packaging set itself apart form conventional packaging by not using any plastic whatsoever. Utilizing an existing waste stream and manufacture process, this product is not only very simple to produce, but is also very simple to dispose of, the primary material composting down to nothing.
The product can be first pressed, and then identified with company branding after through die-cutting and printing to create a unique structural item of packaging that both looks and feels very different and interesting.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With minimal materials and functions comes minimal fuss which is what I wanted to achieve with this product. Through user testing and research of both staff and customers who awill be using the product it became very clear that the less ammount of 'stuff' to deal with the better. The current system uses over 20 individually sourced components, all of which are either lost or broken upon removing the shirt to try it on. This renders repacking impossible and in turn resale impossible.
