| DESIGN NAME: Monolith PRIMARY FUNCTION: Table Clock INSPIRATION: We have not got only one source of inspiration. Maybe the concept of space-time UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Everyone can use a universal clock. The intention behind Monolith is to reveal the stereotypes related to time and clocks, and reveal a different aspect of these concepts. Monolith offers a new perspective on telling the time. This clock has been designed like a fine art work, for if time is universal, so too should be the form of the clock. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: Monolith started in April 2010 in Istanbul and finished in May 2010 in Istanbul. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It can be made in any colour. Its display consists of LEDs and use PICT software, and its surfaces are polished glass or plastic. Monolith have got an alarm function and is powered by batteries. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Dimensions of Monolith are 43X43X125 mm. The estimated size of packaging are 63X63X145mm. Its display consists of LEDs and use PICT software. TAGS: Three Dimensions for the Fourth RESEARCH ABSTRACT: - CHALLENGE: Although it ends up being rather simple, starts really deep. This is a clock whose roots go all the way back to the history of humanity, the realization of time, and the portrayal of it in written or sculpted form. We recall ancient Egyptian Priests, Celtic Druids, Roman Engineers, and Renaissance Artists, each of them attempting to specify time with a single boundary. To break out of the notion that all time is a boundary, and that although time is but a moment, it’s always moving in more than one dimension, “Monolith,” have taken time to two sides.
