DESIGN NAME: Escape
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Camping Kitchen System
INSPIRATION: The project was designed based on the users' camping kitchen behavior. Through the observation of users' camping kitchen behavior, it was found that problems such as difficult handling and cumbersome operation were common. Therefore, the Escape Camping Kitchen System was designed to streamline and optimize the operation line of camping kitchens to solve the above pain points, significantly improving and enhancing the camping kitchen experience of users.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Escape is a portable all-in-one camping kitchen system designed based on the user's camping kitchen behavior, ensuring a comfortable and smooth experience. The kitchen system is available in both folded and unfolded states. Folded for easy transportation and unfolded for use when needed. The system integrates five functional modules: storage area, meal preparation area, cooking area, storage area and dining area, which meet the needs of users during the camping and cooking process.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. pull Escape Camping Kitchen System to the camping place; 2. undo the clips at the back of the main body and take out the table board; 3. unfold the main body and the table board and make simple food preparation; 4. pull open the lid; 5. open the storage area and take out the set of pots and pans, expanding accessories, etc. in the storage area; 6. assemble the expanding accessories; 7. connect the gas canisters; 8. open the fire to make the cooking; 9. have the meal at the table board; 10. fold up for storage
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in June 2023 in Xiamen and was finished in April 2024 in Xiamen.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In the pre-design stage, interviews and observations of camping users are conducted to understand the explicit and implicit needs of users in the process of camping meals and kitchens, and the Kano model is applied to analyze the needs to get the priority of users' needs in the process of camping meals and kitchens, and the design is carried out in accordance with this. In the design process, ergonomics is fully considered and users are invited to test the product to improve and optimize it.
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The dimensions of the product take full account of ergonomics. The size of the product when the lid is closed is: 1285mm x 470mm x 900mm; the size of the product when the lid is open is: 1765mm x 470mm x 900mm.

CHALLENGE: In terms of data collection means, this study mainly relies on more subjective qualitative research methods such as interviews and behavioral observations, and is limited to surveys of some user groups in limited camping scenarios, which may make the generalizability and representativeness of the results somewhat constrained.
