| DESIGN NAME: Mayura PRIMARY FUNCTION: Jewel Ring INSPIRATION: The peerless glamour of birds has been a source of inspiring ideas for my jewelry design. While traveling in Africa, I found peacock as an example of internal and external beauty. That provided me with the concept of designing a jewelry ring that conveys the message that self-confidence is complementary to beauty. Observing the structure of a peacock feather, gave birth to a ring with radial lines decorated with pieces of diamond on the edged, surrounding a rare blueish-green Tahitian pearl as a metaphor of feminine esteem. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The handmade jewelry ring is created out of the idea of expressing the beauty and pride of a peacock. The bending process and other operational works of the ring has been done by hand and it is fully handcrafted. Although this ring is big in size, but it is a very comfortable piece of jewelry to wear. As a combination of jewelry design and psychological perspectives, the ring represents the idea that it is not only the appearance that expresses beauty, but also the mental state is a factor to empower the sense of charm. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: - PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in September2021 in IRAN and finished in January2022 in IRAN. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: This ring is totally handmade in all the technical processes. While the ring is big in size, attempts are made to make it gentle and comfortable. Arrangements are observed that the structure of the ring makes it easy to wear, and to prevent it from rolling and rotating when it is worn on the finger. I tried to minimize the motifs to obtain a unique form. I had to do some researches on peacock character and to find out how a peacock behaves in nature and how this behavioral pattern could be related to the beauty and pride of a woman. Somehow, I had to find a matching method to adopt my psychological concept applied in the design with the peacock behavior. Finding a specific pearl in terms of color was challenging; I needed a unique color that can resemble the whole range of the peacock feather color.
