DESIGN NAME: Reserva Das Parkias
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Brand Identity
INSPIRATION: Bio-inspired by the queen of trees from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, the Parkia Pêndula. The project has a visual identity that expresses the unique Biodesign of this tree. Parkia produces red floral globes hanging by pendulums (hence its name), making it iconic in Brazilian flora. Another inspiration is the body paintings of the original native peoples of Brazil, as when we replicate the logo it transforms into an ancestral pattern full of the history and primordial culture of Brazil
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Parkia’s Reserve is an environmental project to restore soil, reforest native trees and preserve biodiversity. Up to 40m tall, Parkia Pêndula lives in climax (mature) forests, such as the Atlantic Forest, a more biodiverse biome than its sister, the Amazon. It extends from north to south of Brazil, along its Atlantic coast, the most populous region of the country that has already destroyed 88% of the original coverage of this biome and that needs to be restored to combat climate change
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Experience this logo as a version inspired by a tree that is at risk of extinction and needs to be transformed into a symbol of reforestation. The interaction is semiotic, it is an icon of a tree (Parkia Pendula) as it portrays it in an iconographic way in its graphic characteristics. It presents better results as it was designed harmoniously in a golden ratio in every detail. It has better performance because it is not a generic tree, but a specific tree from the Brazilian Atlantic Forest
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project began in September 2023 in Pernambuco, Brazil, after field research in the Parkias Reserve. Knowing the place and experiencing nature and its biodiversity was fundamental to understanding the richness of that place and choosing Parkia pendula to symbolize the reforestation proposed by the environmental action. The design was ready in January 2024 and environmental actions will begin in May 2024, the rainy season in the region, which helps with the reforestation process

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Design architected in Golden Ratio. This visual identity was developed to have visual harmony in each of its parts, such as the globular flowers, the pendulums, the branches, the trunk and its crown, all calculated to be proportional in golden proportion. Another technique used in the project was biomimicry, representing the Parkia pendula tree in a minimalist way in each of the visual attributes that graphically identify this tree
SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Main image 3600px x 3600px. Optional images 1800px x 1800px. Video 1080px x 1920px (9 x 16)

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In biology I sought inspiration from nature and in anthropology I sought ancestral knowledge from the people of the forest, inspiring the creation of a natural brand with ethnic patterns such as native body paintings. The purpose was to find the species that best represented the idea of Regeneration, and Parkia pendula is known for its ability to restore soil fertility. Biomimetics was used in the brand concept and the golden ratio was used in the creation of the visual identity
CHALLENGE: Synthesizing an exuberant nature into a minimalist icon that didn't just look like a generic tree was possible due to the use of semiotics in a specific way. It was also necessary to understand the importance of Parkia in ecological relations for the logo to have meaning for the brand's environmental and social project. Applying other techniques such as golden ratio, biomimetics and gestalt to add layers, sensations, and ancestry to the project was challenging, like composing a visual symphony
