| DESIGN NAME: Modulo PRIMARY FUNCTION: Luminaire INSPIRATION: Recessed lights are now ubiquitous in buildings, serving not only as functional sources but also as striking decorative features. With modules boasting diverse forms and colors, the recessed light emerges as a focal point. By integrating lamps as adaptable modules, this luminaire offers enhanced versatility, making it seamlessly adaptable to any space. It's the element that sparks a sense of well-being and aesthetic delight. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Modulo offers three unique modules: Outside, Inside, and Lamp. The Outside module provides choices of circle or square designs, varying sizes, candle options, and vibrant colors. The Inside module features adjustable or fixed setups, different depths, and diverse colors. The Lamp module offers various cap colors, Kelvin temperature options, light intensities, and beam angles. Experience limitless customization and design excellence with Modulo. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Modulo presents a comprehensive recessed lighting solution by combining the Outside, Inside, and Lamp modules. This integrated approach offers architects and designers unparalleled flexibility in tailoring the design to suit any space seamlessly. With Modulo's modular system, achieving the perfect recessed light for architectural designs has never been more efficient. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project commenced in April 2021 in Tehran and progressed with module design until 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The base material is aluminum. Aluminum, lighter due to its low density, ensures safe and sustainable luminaires. Heat sinking is very important for LEDs. aluminum has good thermal connectivity , it mean that for lamp it can has lower heat sink size and some heat dissipation will be with body of luminaire. Anodizing adds unique finishes to this metal. Standard aluminum alloys form halogen frames with diverse machining options. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Hole size of 1 candle light is 8cm. This size is most common size for recessed lights. CHALLENGE: The main challenge was to create a more harmonious space with a recessed light, a luminaire that can be easily changed in design with minimum cost because only one or two modules can be changed. Another challenge was to update the structure of the lights based on new science and technology with minimum molding and machining costs.
