| DESIGN NAME: The M PRIMARY FUNCTION: Self Evolved Personal Memory Sculpture INSPIRATION: In the future, human living spaces will become increasingly smaller, while an abundance of information will occupy the majority of people's minds. I often contemplate, in a highly virtualized world, what kind of design would encourage human interaction? What could provide solace for the human spirit? How can intangible things like memories and thoughts, which are crucial to mental health, be materialized? With these thoughts in mind, I designed M. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The advancement of technology has led to information overload for people. As a result, opportunities for introspection and self-reflection have been greatly reduced, leading to increased mental stress. M is a tangible, growable memory sculpture. Using M can awaken the habit of thinking and meditating, providing individuals with a private spiritual anchor in a highly virtualized and fragmented life. The outer shell structure of M will grow according to the user's meditation frequency. NAME: Rui Sun Design PROFILE: Rui is a product designer with expertise in both hardware and digital fields. Rui is pursuing a BA in Industrial Design at California College of the Arts, San Francisco. During her undergraduate studies, Rui developed a strong interest in smart wearable products and paid attention to the needs of vulnerable groups in society. Rui worked in the user experience industry after graduation. Rui believes that the advancement of technological products should not only improve people's efficiency, but also better provide emotional help and support to people who use the products. |
