| DESIGN NAME: Korean Bidan PRIMARY FUNCTION: Rings INSPIRATION: Inspired by traditional Korean wedding exchanges, where brides and grooms exchanged quilts and gold rings wrapped in "Bidan," the "The elegant texture of Korean Bidan" ring embodies this sentiment, mimicking Bidan's texture in gold. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This design, highlighted by the 'Bidan Texture' that allows one to appreciate the shimmering of light with movement, is like wrapping a gold ring in Bidan fabric. The rippling waves of light bring joy and wonder to the wearer. *Bidan: the most luxurious among traditional Korean fabrics, Bidan(Silk) is lustrous and resistant to wrinkling, maintaining a beautiful and elegant shape. Made from unwound silkworm cocoons, silk threads have a triangular cross-section, creating a prism effect that gives the fabric a rainbow-like beauty. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The band comes in a total of 10 colors developed by Eunyeong, among which Sunset Gold and Forest Green Gold are Eunyeong's unique signature colors. "The elegant texture of Korean Bidan" is crafted in Sunset Gold, and it allows for personal messages to be engraved. It can be set with melee diamonds or a diamond of more than 0.1ct in a 6-prong setting, making it perfect for use as a proposal ring. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This design was created in December 2022 and first introduced at the 'Eunyeong' showroom in Seochon, Seoul, South Korea, in December 2022. It has been on display there until the present, February 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The "The elegant texture of Korean bidan" couple band, in 18K Sunset Gold with 75.0% solid gold, features hand-engraved layers on its surface for a bidan-like texture, visible from all angles. Developed by Eunyeong, the Sunset gold color was perfected over approximately 720 hours of research, using 1200 bidan samples. The "The elegant texture of Korean Bidan" band is the culmination of inspiration from traditional Korean wedding culture, a concept by a Korean jewelry designer, combined with the skilled craftsmanship of artisans. It represents the fruition of perseverance through numerous failures to achieve perfection. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: A. The waves of light inside the band provide joy and wonder from every angle, blessing the couple's journey ahead with the brilliance of flowing Bidan. Drawing inspiration from the silky feel and the traditional elegance of Bidan in Korean weddings, "The elegant texture of Korean Bidan" is a masterpiece. It allows for customization with melee to 1ct diamonds for added splendor, and offers various gold colors and band widths to create diverse mood. CHALLENGE: Blending the basic form of a ring with the delicate texture of Bidan was our main challenge. Inspired by the traditional Korean features, we handcrafted waves on the gold to mimic Bidan's fluid grace using Eunyeong's unique 75.0% solid Sunset Gold. This process, refined over time, led to the exclusive Bidan texture technique. The design enriches the simple ring with the traditional wedding beauty of Bidan and blesses a couple's journey with gold's gentle shimmer, symbolizing a bright future together.
