| DESIGN NAME: Unplugged PRIMARY FUNCTION: Break out area in an Exhibition INSPIRATION: Unwind, relax and just unplug was the main inspiration behind this installation. The space was cordoned off with a lot of planters and large open box was created to accomadate a hammock inviting passerby visitors to come and relax while they enjoy a live singer. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The allocated space was 5M X 6M and was supposed to be a break area in between India's largest Luxury Design exhibition. The space was conceptualised to be engaging apart from being just a break area for people to sit and relax. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The space was visible from the design hall and directly in line of sight, hence inviting enough for everyone to visit and enjoy the space. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started over a phone call in January 2024 and was finished by February 2024 and was exhibited in India Design ID in February 2024. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The large box was made of Mild Steel frame work welded to strength as to hold atleast 4 to 5 people sitting on the hammock. The space also was made with a wooden deck platform. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 4M width X 2M depth and 4M height was the dimension for the box placed on a wooden deck platform of 5M X 6M TAGS: unplugged, India design, ID, ID2024, Delhi, Okhla, Willow Viiew, ZERO9, Prashant Chauhan, Anu Chauhan, Mumbai, Musical installation at ID RESEARCH ABSTRACT: A proper research was done to understand people behaviour at such exhibitions. Visitors not only wanted a break space but also some entertainment and engagement to get a break from the long walks around the exhibition. CHALLENGE: maintaining strenght of the structure was a challenge as people would get onto the hammock in groups, hence the structure was made stronger to ensure stability of the structure.
