| DESIGN NAME: Aviz PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Trolley INSPIRATION: Aviz is designed upon the request of Objet design exhibition and its design brief. The functionality of this trolley is reminiscent of an old tray or Majmaa, made of silver or copper, that served as a gathering place for people in specific spatial and temporal situations depending on the moods and various needs, in old Iranian culture. An object whose form and function create intimate connection between its user and material, movable as the user disposition, allows them to use it in private or semi private spaces UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Aviz is designed with a focus on multifunctionality and expandability, making it suitable for various locations and situations. The primary innovative feature of Aviz is the use of lightweight fabric, allowing for seamless transitions in form. This enhances expandability in function and practicality in the overall design. additionally, the design and material selection are structured to enable users to easily assemble it on-site. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This trolley performs various functions by adjusting the placement of the fabric component on the main structure through specific grooved joint details, enabling the accommodation of different wooden pieces. Different pieces in triangular or box shapes can be arranged on the hanging fabric in various ways. Users can utilize it as a mobile warehouse for serving food and related items, a mobile pool table for carrying towels, and more, or as a place to hold bottles and drinking glasses while serving drinks. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in July 2022 in Tehran and finished in July 2023 in Tehran, and was exhibited in OBJET 05 exhibition in e1 art gallery in July 2023 in Tehran. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The powder-coated metal structure was laser-cut into segments, which were then assembled using specific joint details. Additionally, the wooden components are produced using common production techniques. Through intelligent use of fabric and specific movable joint details for the fabric component, the trolley can be entirely assembled and disassembled on-site. Researching multiple functions and employing fabric as a shapeable material proved effective in the design process. CHALLENGE: The primary challenge in designing this trolley as movable furniture was to address issues related to dynamics, connections, and weight. These challenges were overcome through meticulous detail design and the creation of a stable frame for the AVIZ trolley. The manufacturing of initial prototypes in the design process resulted in resolving implementation issues.
