| DESIGN NAME: Gorametto T-one PRIMARY FUNCTION: Snowboard INSPIRATION: When I was snowboarding, I found that most of the current snowboards are made of wood and completely opaque. Almost all innovations for snowboards are in snowboard painting. So I thought of a cool transparent snowboard and made it as a product to realise it. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Gorametto T-one is the only one transparent snowboard in the world, which is made of Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol. The design of it is cool and useful. When snowboarders perform freestyle snowboarding,the judges can clearly see the performance of athletes in the air without being blocked by snowboards. Besides, this kind of snowboard has extremely strong impact resistance and toughness, its performance can be twice or more than that of traditional snowboard, which can protect athletes well OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Gorametto T-one has brand new design of snowboard, the judges can see the performance of freestyle athletes clearly through the transparent snowboard. It has extremely strong impact resistance and toughness, and its performance can be over twice than that of traditional snowboard. This snowboard can better protect athletes when making stunts or making mistakes. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in April 2023 and finished in January 2024 in Beijing. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The snowboard is made of Polyethylene Terephthalate Glycol SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Length 1570mm, Width 300mm, Height 60mm (approx) TAGS: snowboard, transparent, transparent snowboard, snowboarding, skiing, innovation, sports RESEARCH ABSTRACT: *Bending performance test: Three-point Bending Test, result: traditional snowboard: 100-200MPa, Gorametto T-one: 150-250MPa. * Impact Performance Test: Laboratory and Performance Table, result: traditional snowboard: 200-400J/cm2, Gorametto T-one: 400-600J/cm2 CHALLENGE: The most difficult part is to embed the metal plate blade in the snowboard. In order to achieve better performance, I decided not to use traditional glue-fixed plate blades, but this is unprecedented. It is very difficult to heat the stainless steel C-shaped plate blade and embed it in the snowboard. But by cooperating with the factory, I finally realised this function and greatly improved the performance of Gorametto T-one.
