| DESIGN NAME: Fusion PRIMARY FUNCTION: Folding Chair INSPIRATION: Combining tradition with the new era is an important development trend in modern design. In order to integrate traditional elements into fast and convenient modern life, we mainly combine the unique Chinese style chairs with portable folding dining chairs. The structure of the chair is combined with the grand appearance of the Chinese chair, colliding the essence of tradition with modern multiculturalism, showing infinite creativity and charm, in order to achieve the purpose of adding retro traditional meaning to the new modern design. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: With the popularity and development of major designs, people are becoming less and less familiar with ancient art. We aim to integrate classic aesthetics into minimalist modern design, provide a fusion of classical and modern, and build a unique Art style. Promote more people to realize the charm of classic aesthetics and explore the collision of classic flavor and modern creativity. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Part of the process of opening a folding chair retains the convenience of existing folding chairs. First, fix the position of the rear chair legs (outer leg), press the seat down from the front (facing the chair) or push forward from the back. When the seat surface is unfolded, the front legs are opened simultaneously. After reaching the sitting angle, the seat surface will be fixed by the metal structure of the rear legs. The backrest and chair ring armrests will also stretch as the seat surface and front legs are unfolded. When it reaches the bulge behind the seat, the backrest will be fixed by the magnetic buckle, and the folding chair will unfold. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The chair legs are made of black walnut, and the armrest area and seat surface are made of yellow walnut. The parts that need to be bent to form a curved surface are steam-bent. After softening, a mold is used to shape the wood. The backrest metal and supports are cast and carefully ground, and the metal gears are machined. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: The chair is 780mm×490mm×490mm, and the seat surface is 380mm×365mm. They are easy to use, light in weight and save space. We hope to break this inherent impression and extract the elements of the traditional Chinese high chair to create a new design for the folding chair. On the basis of the original convenience of use, we add an elegant appearance, which not only retains the original convenience of the folding chair, but also It embodies a different antique design beauty. CHALLENGE: In order to create this chair, we continued to extract traditional Chinese elements from the folding chair and explored the possibility of combining each element with a folding chair. And in order to break people's inherent impression of folding chairs, its texture is constantly shaped through the fusion of metal and wood, which highlights the texture that is different from ordinary folding chairs. At the same time, in order to make the folding chair still look overall beautiful in the stowed state, the folding parts are concentrated on the inner legs, while the outer legs are responsible for supporting the chair surface, ensuring the ornamental appearance even in the stowed state.
