| DESIGN NAME: Nutriblend PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tailored Nutrient Formula Dispenser INSPIRATION: The inspiration for NutriBlend stemmed from recognizing the nutritional challenges faced by seniors and the need for a solution that optimizes nutrient intake while being accessible and user-friendly. Motivated by a desire to improve senior health and well-being, our team combined insights from nutritional research and user-centered design principles to develop a solution that addresses these needs effectively. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: NutriBlend optimizes nutrient retention and simplifies operation for seniors with its intuitive interface. Users customize nutrient intake effortlessly, activating automatic adjustments for cooking parameters by scanning Nutri-Caps. With personalized options and accessible features, NutriBlend revolutionizes senior nutrition, offering convenience and precision. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: 1. Scan Nutri-Cap barcodes located above the machine's screen for insertion. 2. Scan and insert all Nutri-Caps containing powdered milk into the hatch, then push to secure. 3. Once all capsules are scanned, adjust cooking time, temperature, water volume, and consistency according to preferences. 4. After adjusting preferences, users can initiate the process to start making nutritious drinks using the machine. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: NutriBlend utilizes injection molding for plastic components, CNC machining for metal parts, and electronic assembly for integrating electronic components. Pharmaceutical-grade materials are used for the nutrient capsules to ensure safety and efficacy. The system employs scanning technology for Nutri-Caps recognition and adjusts cooking parameters accordingly. Additionally, the intuitive interface is developed using user experience design principles to ensure ease of use for seniors. We analyzed existing nutrient dispensers, considering their strengths and weaknesses. Leveraging insights, we designed NutriBlend to optimize nutrient retention and ensure ease of use for seniors. Prototypes underwent rigorous testing, with continuous feedback incorporated from nutritionists and seniors to refine and improve the design iteratively. CHALLENGE: The creative challenge of NutriBlend was to develop a system that effectively addresses the unique nutritional needs of seniors while ensuring ease of use and accessibility. Internal factors such as understanding the historical and social perspectives on senior nutrition guided the development process. External factors, including regulations on food safety and technological advancements in nutrient analysis, influenced the design's functionality and safety measures. Overcoming obstacles involved extensive research into nutrient retention techniques, user interface design, and production possibilities to create a solution that revolutionizes senior nutrition with precision and convenience.
