| DESIGN NAME: Opulence PRIMARY FUNCTION: Workspace INSPIRATION: Drawing inspiration from the inclusive reception services found in upscale hotels and lounges, our aim is to craft an exceptionally welcoming experience that lingers in the minds of all who visit. Through meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to hospitality, we aspire to create unforgettable moments that exceed expectations and leave a lasting impression. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The office represents a bold endeavor to transcend the conventional boundaries between an open workspace and a contemporary luxury business club, seamlessly melding productivity with relaxation in an environment of refined taste. Central to this vision is our meticulous approach to lighting design within the workspace. While prioritizing functionality, we have curated an array of lighting modes to cater to diverse needs without compromising on the quality of work. From direct lighting for focused tasks to indirect illumination for ambient comfort, and the subtle sophistication of pure recessed eye-ball lighting, each mode contributes to an adaptable and dynamic atmosphere conducive to both work and leisure. Especially in spaces characterized by low chroma and darker tones, the significance of lighting design cannot be overstated. It serves as a vital tool in enhancing both the functionality of the workspace and the ambiance of the lounge area, ensuring that every corner of the office is thoughtfully illuminated to promote productivity and relaxation in equal measure. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: upon entering our office space, visitors are greeted by the inviting oval reception desk, a bespoke creation designed to set the tone for their experience. Here, seamless transactions for document handling or package reception can be efficiently conducted, fostering a sense of convenience and professionalism. For those requiring a more in-depth discussion, options abound. The discreet small meeting room located just behind the reception desk offers privacy and tranquility, ideal for confidential conversations or sensitive negotiations. Alternatively, our thoughtfully designed lounge area provides a relaxed setting conducive to engaging with clients on a more informal basis. Each space serves a distinct purpose, tailored to accommodate varying needs and preferences. The meeting room offers an intimate setting suitable for discussing confidential matters such as pricing strategies, while the lounge area presents an opportunity to foster meaningful connections with potential clients in a more relaxed environment. Through the thoughtful integration of these spaces, we aim to leave a lasting impression on visitors, showcasing our commitment to innovation and providing an experience that transcends the traditional office setting. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: From the project's inception, our aim was to create a ceiling design that would captivate attention and enhance the visual aesthetics of the space. After careful consideration, we opted for a large expanse of reflective material to achieve this effect, ensuring maximum impact upon entry. Various options were explored, including mirrors, stainless steel laminate boards, and mirror finish membrane ceilings. However, each presented its own set of challenges. Mirrors, due to their weight, posed logistical issues, while stainless steel laminate boards exhibited distortion in reflection. The membrane material, though visually appealing, proved costly and challenging to maintain. Ultimately, we settled on a solution that balanced functionality, aesthetics, and practicality. Plywood was selected as the base for its stability and versatility, providing a solid foundation for the ceiling. Overlaying this base with 1.5mm black-plated mirror stainless steel plates offered numerous advantages. Not only did it deliver near-perfect reflection, but its lightweight nature simplified installation and facilitated flexible lighting arrangements. This innovative approach to ceiling design not only elevates the visual impact of the space but also underscores our commitment to thoughtful, practical solutions that seamlessly integrate form and function SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 3 Storey Total Built Up: 4000sqft TAGS: Workspace, Lounge, Luxury, Office, Welcoming, Private RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Our process was guided by extensive online research and firsthand experiences garnered from exploring hotels worldwide. Delving deep into the nuances of guest check-in procedures, luggage storage solutions, and personalized assistance, we meticulously distilled the essence of exceptional hospitality to infuse into our design for this office space. Inspired by the seamless guest experiences observed in renowned hotels, we endeavored to replicate the same level of convenience, efficiency, and attentiveness within the office environment. From the moment visitors step through the door, our goal was to create an atmosphere that not only welcomes but anticipates their needs. Drawing upon our findings, we sought to integrate elements such as streamlined check-in processes, innovative luggage storage solutions, and even personalized assistance in carrying belongings to designated areas. By harnessing the best practices observed in the hospitality industry, we aimed to elevate the overall experience for employees and visitors alike. Through meticulous planning and thoughtful execution, we endeavored to infuse this office space with the hallmark qualities of exceptional hospitality, fostering an environment where every interaction is imbued with warmth, efficiency, and a genuine commitment to exceeding expectations. CHALLENGE: Embarking on the renovation of a 30-year-old house presented us with a myriad of challenges, yet offered boundless opportunities for transformation. The aging infrastructure, with its deteriorating water and electricity pipes, necessitated significant investment to replace. Moreover, years of disuse had left the space neglected and overrun with obstacles, particularly on the third floor, where the pervasive odor of pigeon corpses and the presence of nests, eggs, and fledglings posed a daunting cleanup task. Undeterred by the daunting nature of the project, we rolled up our sleeves and embarked on a thorough demolition and cleanup effort. Tackling the accumulated debris and odors head-on, we worked tirelessly to restore the space to its former glory. One of the most remarkable transformations occurred with the addition of a new staircase. Recognizing the importance of seamless accessibility between floors, the owner opted to forego the original exterior stairs in favor of an indoor staircase. This decision not only facilitated ease of movement for employees and customers but also presented us with an opportunity to elevate the aesthetic appeal of the space. With meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship, we designed and installed a stunning indoor staircase that seamlessly connected all three floors. This staircase, now a focal point of the space, stands as a testament to our dedication to both functionality and design excellence. Despite the myriad challenges we faced, the successful completion of this project stands as a testament to our unwavering commitment to excellence and our ability to overcome obstacles with creativity and determination.
