PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Restaurant

INSPIRATION:
In Japan, traditional rattan is typically used as a framework for items like chairs. However, i envisioned creating a unique spatial accent by highlighting the contrast of the rattan weave from within through illumination, believing that it enhances the beauty of the space.

UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The walls and floors are finished with plaster materials, and all the furniture, including tables, chairs, counters, and partitions, is meticulously created from oak. The sofa seating area features illuminated rattan partitions that radiate beautiful light from within, gracefully enveloping the space. The rattan itself is a traditional craft, skillfully created by artisans from a specialty shop with a legacy dating back to 1926 in Hiroshima, Japan.

OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION:
To attach rattan to oak partitions, I secured it with brass frames, enhancing the space's beauty through the reflection of light. Achieving a fantastical illumination required meticulous adjustments to the distance between the rattan and the light source. Balancing the light was crucial; too much intensity risked creating a dazzling effect, while too little hindered the effective expression of the rattan's beauty.

PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION:
This Restaurant is Opened in Shibuya Tokyo Japan in January 2024.

 PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY:
Brass frame has been installed to attach the rattan. The reflection of light from the rattan weave onto the brass frame adds a beautiful shine when combined with the rattan. Furthermore, special processing has been applied to enhance the grain pattern of the oak, allowing you to enjoy the patina over time.
