| DESIGN NAME: Moon and Chess PRIMARY FUNCTION: Mooncake Packaging INSPIRATION: The design inspiration for Moon and Chess comes from the famous Chinese painting Prosperous Suzhou and chess culture. By combining these two elements, the designer aims to integrate traditional cultural elements with modern aesthetics, creating a unique visual effect. Meanwhile, Prosperous Suzhou depicts the flourishing period of Suzhou in ancient times. It not only showcases the bustling markets of Suzhou but also vividly presents rich contents representing Suzhou culture, such as imperial examinations, traditional Chinese opera and music, wedding customs, and garden art, etc. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Moon and Chess is a uniquely designed and exquisitely crafted Mid-Autumn Festival gift box. It combines traditional Chinese elements with modern design concepts, presenting an elegant and delicate feel. The packaging features vibrant colors, with prosperity blue as the main tone, complemented by lively and bright orange, creating a fresh and lively atmosphere. The overall packaging boasts smooth lines and exquisite patterns. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The highlight of Moon and Chess lies in its combination of table and chessboard functionalities. By disassembling and combining from different dimensions, the overall interactivity and fun of the gift box are enhanced. When people open the packaging, they can place the inner box on top of the unfolded outer box, creating a table for enjoying tea. When flipping the tabletop, users can arrange the chess pieces on it and begin an exciting game of chess playing. This design not only increases the practicality of the packaging but also provides people with more interactive and entertaining ways to enjoy the product. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Additionally, this packaging reflects the practice of environmental protection, reducing environmental pollution and waste through overall waterproof treatment and the use of recyclable materials. RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Moon and Chess packaging inherits and promotes traditional Chinese culture. By incorporating the traditional Prosperous Suzhou and chess culture into the packaging design, people can gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the charm and value of Chinese traditional culture. Furthermore, this packaging brings a unique culinary experience, allowing people to not only savor delicious food but also experience the unique charm of traditional culture. CHALLENGE: In the context of sustainable development in the new era, how to reasonably design people-centric products? Solution: In line with the Mid-Autumn Festival's theme of "reunion," we propose incorporating the traditional Chinese game of "Chess" into the overall product design.
