| DESIGN NAME: Elegant Arc PRIMARY FUNCTION: Sofa INSPIRATION: The product is inspired by the market demand for sturdy, durable genuine leather sofas. It adopts large pieces of natural genuine leather, reducing the use of chemical adhesives compared to smaller, scrap leather pieces. In this way, the product is healthy, environmentally friendly, robust and less prone to tearing and wear, thereby extending its lifespan. To balance the calm and serious feel brought by the genuine leather, the sofa uses curved elements to add a sense of relaxation and comfort. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This product is a sofa that strikes a balance between stylish design and comfort. The surface is made of natural animal leather for a soft, delicate texture. The inside is filled with materials like latex, UTTP foam, and cotton batting to ensure good support, excellent softness and high resilience, providing a comfortable seating experience for users. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The sofa is designed with rounded, smooth curves and offers various color options, harmonious with any home environment to create a warm atmosphere and also able to be a piece of art. Additionally, the sofa boasts much deeper seat, whereby to give users a feeling as if in a warm embrace. The robust armrests provide stable support, allowing for comfortable leaning and pillow rest, which can also be used as side tables for placing small items. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: This product was developed in April, 2023 in Lecong Town, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, and launched in May, 2023 in China. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Seat cushion: top grain calfskin from the back, water washed latex and highly resilient UTTP foam Backrest: top grain calfskin leather from the back, down and cotton batting Armrest padding: highly resilient UTTP foam Pillow filling: down and cotton batting Sofa legs: wood SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: product dimensions, 220 mm x 106 mm x 82mm TAGS: genuine leather, sofa, furniture, soft and resilient, rounded curve RESEARCH ABSTRACT: In current furniture market, leather of sofas varies considerably in quality, and some using synthetic leather are of inferior quality. The leather of this sofa is sourced from the premium back section of overseas calves. Thanks to the suitable living conditions and scientific concentrated breeding for the calves, the leather features a natural, clear texture and a smooth, pliable touch, showing its high quality. There is no need for chemical synthesis, making the sofa a safe, reliable choice. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge was how to maintain a soft yet resilient seating experience. Feather material alone was too soft and prone to deformation. After experimenting with various materials, the design team decided to fill the backrest with a combination of down and cotton batting. Through multiple tests and adjustments, they found the optimal ratio of down to cotton batting, which ensures that the sofa is not only comfortable and soft but also provides sufficient support and resilience.
