| DESIGN NAME: Catplay Hub PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Pet Table INSPIRATION: The design inspiration comes from the observation of cats' activity habits, preferences, and interactions, combined with a morphological design that adapts to cats' hiding nature. CatPlay Hub thus becomes a series of furniture that meets people's needs for exploring, resting, and playing while also providing convenience and fun for people to interact with cats. The interactive design of CatPlay Hub aims to attract the attention of target groups with innovation and entertainment. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This product design brings a new interactive experience and a comfortable environment to users and pets through a unique combination of functions, the concept of sharing between humans and pets, and the application of environmentally friendly materials. It is an innovative solution that meets the needs of pets and owners, providing a more enjoyable and sustainable lifestyle. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The CatPlay Hub is a versatile and interactive furniture piece that combines cat scratching, a cat bed, and shared human-pet space. It features a dedicated cat nesting area beneath the table and chairs, providing a cozy and comfortable spot for feline companions. The design also includes a specialized tickling device to offer cats interactive stimulation. The tabletop utilizes water corrugated glass, enhancing visual aesthetics while fostering the bond between humans and their pets. Overall, the CatPlay Hub is an innovative product that promotes enriched human-pet interaction while catering to the specific needs and behaviors of cats. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: CatPlay Hub uses environmentally friendly sheets to be heat-bent as the main frame of tables and chairs. The tabletop is made of water corrugated glass and cork, which can realize the visual function of the product while also being environmentally friendly. Cork can increase the friction of the tabletop. The soft silicone material is used as the scratching device inside, so the cat can rub against it comfortably and have its own enclosed space. The seats are made of two-tone distressed leather, making the product color more layered. Prototype testing involved 30 cats of various breeds and ages interacting with the CatPlay Hub. Research shows that cats have a strong tendency to hide, jump, crawl, and explore. The research contributes to the field of design by highlighting the importance of considering animal behavior and needs in product development. The CatPlay Hub successfully promotes interaction and exploration between humans and pets, resulting in stronger bonds. CHALLENGE: The biggest challenge in the experiment and research process is how to satisfy the harmonious coexistence of humans and pets and enhance the communication and interaction between humans and pets. We try to normalize the pet activity space with people's home space and hope that the CatPlay Hub can provide a rich living environment for pets.
