| DESIGN NAME: Resistance is Life PRIMARY FUNCTION: Ring INSPIRATION: The ring draws inspiration from the unwavering determination of Kurdish women in their quest for liberty against ISIS. As a vessel for the impactful slogan "Resistance is life," it encourages individuals to endure through life's challenges. The profound symbolism extends to nature, mirroring the tenacity of purple blooms that boldly emerge in the snowy landscapes of Kurdistan, thriving despite challenging conditions. The design narrates a tale of strength, resonating with the indomitable spirit embodied in the lives of women. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: This product is a ring that symbolizes hope and resilience in life. It embodies the spirit of resistance and invites wearers to champion the cause of freedom and life. The name of the ring draws inspiration from a significant slogan of the Kurdish people, reflecting their struggle for liberation. Additionally, its design is influenced by the majestic purple flowers found in the foothills of the Kurdistan mountains, particularly on the snow-covered slopes. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: This ring, crafted from gold and lab-created stones, symbolizes hope and resistance in daily wear. Its hollowed inner part reduces weight, making it more affordable. The non-hollowed base facilitates resizing. In the design, colors and materials are chosen to make it accessible to ordinary customers. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in August 2023 in Urmia and was completed in November 2023 in Tehran. After that, the photography in Urmia was carried out. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: In the early stages, following the Lean Startup methodology, this product underwent a design phase. Subsequently, through the casting process, a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) was crafted to evaluate market dynamics and gather customer feedback. After successful testing, final adjustments were made. The ultimate product was created using 18-carat white gold. Initially planned for a precious stone, market analysis led to a switch to a more cost-effective laboratory stone, in line with the project's vision. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: This ring has been designed and made in size 60 EU. It stands at approximately 7.6 mm in height and features a 12*15 mm oval stone at its center, accompanied by four 2*2 mm round stones along the margin. The weight of the ring, excluding its stones but including the 18-carat gold, is 8.05 grams. TAGS: Ring, Jewelry, Jewelry Design, Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: The memory of Kobani's resistance was his initial encounter with death in search of freedom. Witnessing humans risking their lives, and confronting death while advocating for freedom seemed surreal. It ingrained a slogan that shaped his identity: 'Resistance is life,' born from Kurdistan's fight for freedom. Over time, attempts to articulate this grief failed; visiting Kurdistan's Qandil Mount changed it. He searched away the history of Kurdistan's fight, from Kobanî and Amed to Halabja and Mahabad. Eventually, the purple flowers on the snowy hillside of Ghandil Mount became the inspiration for this jewelry, expressing hope and life." CHALLENGE: Crafting the idea presented challenges in conveying the concept through intricate or straightforward designs. Stone selection, particularly regarding environmental impact, proved to be a hurdle. Concerns arose when considering stones extracted through harmful methods for a nature-inspired product, leading to discussions with environmental experts and extensive research. MVP designs were criticized for their weightiness and lack of charisma. The objective was to develop a daily wearable ornament that embodied a profound concept and historical slogan.
