| DESIGN NAME: Dif PRIMARY FUNCTION: Lamp INSPIRATION: Being a doctor by education, I work with the theme of human physiology, endowing my objects with subconsciously familiar functions and features. I am largely inspired by the idea of telling people about the processes occurring in their own bodies through art. This idea is conveyed not only by the Dif lamp, but also by the entire Yoomoota project, of which it is a part. The spherical shapes embody blood cells, the tubes resemble vascular system. The source of inspiration is the human body. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Yoomoota interior design items imitate objects found inside the human body. This is a completely innovative approach to educational activities – to introduce people to their own body through art. So, through Dif, a person gets acquainted with immune cells: the spherical shapes of the new luminaire resemble blood cells, and the tubes leading to them – the vascular system through which they move. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The lamp emits warm yellow light, perfectly suitable for reading and relaxation. This type of light, due to its low intensity and soft glow (3000K), has a calming effect on individuals. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design development took two weeks, including 3D modeling. The implementation of the product spanned 4 to 6 months. The entire design process was carried out in Thailand, specifically in the city of Bangkok, in July 2023. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: It was necessary to make the processes hidden from human gaze in the human body visible and understandable in the Dif. Metal and glass are often used to make lamps. In my work, my main task was to convey the idea, and basic materials turned out to be the most suitable for this. Glass provides the necessary diffusion of light, metal gives stability and strength of the structure. The design Itself implies a stable geometric figure that holds the glass lamp balls. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Materials: metal, plastic, glass, LED; 160 cm Dimentions: 50 mm x 60 mm x 160 mm TAGS: light, lamp, immune, sculpture, lighting, cell, body RESEARCH ABSTRACT: While creating Dif Lamp a study was conducted on the immune cells of the body, as well as the development of cells and the reasons why they assume peculiar forms. CHALLENGE: During the creation of Dif Lamp my challenge was to depict the human body as an interior design object with the intention of conveying knowledge through design and art.
