| DESIGN NAME: Tada PRIMARY FUNCTION: Tumbler INSPIRATION: With the increase in the number of vehicles, more drivers are drinking beverages inside. Furthermore, environmental issues such as ocean pollution caused by disposable containers are threatening wildlife and human health. In this context, we have developed the TADA tumbler. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The TADA tumbler is designed with drivers in mind, featuring a lid with clear visibility of its opening/closing status to help you stay focused on the road. The magnetic lid allows for easy one-handed use, and the precisely designed cup body fits various car cup holders while providing a comfortable grip. Our innovative design simplifies your daily commute and enhances safety. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: With one-handed operation, users can safely access their drink while keeping their other hand free for driving. The spill-proof lid ensures worry-free mobility, preventing spills and leaks. The TADA tumbler enhances the driving experience, allowing users to enjoy their drinks while reducing their carbon footprint. It promotes the use of reusable cups and sustainability in everyday life. PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The project started in May 2022 and finished in March 2023 in Shanghai. |
PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Lid & Stopper:Food-grade PP; Tumbler:Food-grade Stainless Steel SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 370m:∅82 x H153mm; 450ml:∅82 x H179mm TAGS: Vacuum insulated tumbler, Drinkware, Water bottle, Cup, Product design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Research has shown that drinking water while driving increases the risk of accidents. This is because when drivers focus on drinking, their attention becomes divided, leading to a decrease in their awareness of the road and surrounding environment, making it difficult for them to timely perceive and respond to sudden situations. Additionally, the act of picking up and putting down a water cup may cause the driver's hands to leave the steering wheel, reducing their ability to control the vehicle. This can be dangerous when quick reactions and precise operations are required in emergency situations.The design of TADA tumbler revolves around enhancing the drinking experience, and the development process includes conceptual and formal research, 3D modeling, physical mock-ups, and prototyping. CHALLENGE: As a car-mounted tumbler, achieving a perfect balance between spill-proof functionality and effortless opening is paramount. Drawing inspiration from the reliable wall switch structure, we skillfully integrated a magnetic closure mechanism into the lid design. This innovative approach enables users to effortlessly open and close the lid, just like flipping a light switch, while providing clear visibility of its open or closed status. To address food safety concerns, we employed a precise spin-welding technique to securely fuse the two magnet-containing components, ensuring exceptional stability and water-tightness. Furthermore, the magnetic structure facilitates easy disassembly, allowing users to thoroughly clean every corner of the cup for impeccable hygiene.
