| DESIGN NAME: Sleep Aider PRIMARY FUNCTION: Multifunctional Pillow INSPIRATION: People with sleep disorder often listen to mobile phones to promote sleep, but listening to mobile phones does not always work well. The musical effect of listening is not good as expected, and even affects roommates. Earphones can cause ear discomfort, and mobile phones still keep playing after sleeping. The shape of the theater gives us inspiration, which can help people enjoy relaxing hearing and thus fall asleep smoothly. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Sleep Aider is a multifunctional pillow designed specifically for those who have sleep disorder. Sleep Aider adopts bone conduction technology to alleviate sleep disorder by listening to music, and relieve psychological pressure, while avoiding disturbing others. The embedded sleep monitoring device can adjust the volume on the user’s sleeping condition and automatically turn down when fully asleep. Alarm play by bone conduction technology can be heard without disturbing roommates. Sleep Aider provides a good sleep experience for people with sleep disorders. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: Turn on the switch before going to bed, and set your favorite audio and alarm through the mobile APP. The sound will automatically overflow from the pillow, just like listening to quiet music. The monitoring device will automatically adjust the volume according to the sleep state, in order to protect the quality of your sleep. It will automatically turn off when heads off the pillow for a certain amount of time. This product supplements energy by charging, and the control panel is on the side for easy operation. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Sleep Aider is made of sound-transmitting linen with built-in latex. A bone conduction device is built into the orange center of the pillow to release music. The interior of the light orange area is a semi-amphitheater form, which is a good listening area. The white part is the sound shielding area to avoid sound leakage. The orange area of the neck contact has built-in sensors that can detect sleep even when the body position changes. This area has a hard latex texture and can support the neck. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: Sleep Aider is of regular size, 630mm(L) 240mm(W) 70mm(H). Stiffer latex is used to support user’s neck while softer latex is used under user’s head to bring a comfortable experience as well as conduct signals. There is a sound transmission ‘tunnel’ inside the soft silicone area, so that the sound can be expanded in this area to achieve a good audition effect. The sleep monitor points are set in a pit in the hard latex surface of the neck brace to increase the sensitivity of the monitoring. TAGS: Sleep quality, pillow, bone conduction, sleep monitor, intelligent control RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Relevant researchers suggest that soft, snoothing music is an effective cure which release stress and aid sleep. Based on the demand, Sleep Aider with audio function and controlling system was designed. Bone conduction listening and sleep monitoring are mature technologies. We tried to link the two with an automatic control system in the studio, using the result of sleep monitoring to control the listening state, which proved the feasibility of the scheme. No similar products were found up until now, which means considerable market potential. CHALLENGE: Bone conduction players and sleep monitoring are mature technologies, and we tried to use sleep monitoring results to control music playback in the studio, with initial success. However, if it is to be developed into a product, it also needs the assistance of electrical engineers.
