| DESIGN NAME: Nantian 99 PRIMARY FUNCTION: Residential House INSPIRATION: Nestled in the heart of Miaoli, Taiwan, lies Nantian 99, an exquisite split-level house with a remarkable history spanning three decades. Its name, derived from Chinese, not only signifies its unique house number but also encapsulates the enduring happiness it brings to the entire family. Meticulously crafted by a visionary designer, Nantian 99 has undergone a remarkable transformation, converting an underutilized space into a versatile living area that resonates with the entire household. UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Beyond its stunning residential spaces, Nantian 99 offers an array of carefully curated amenities that embody thoughtful design and forward-thinking. Whether it's hosting joyful family gatherings, indulging in delightful dining experiences, embracing productivity while working, enjoying captivating movies, or even engaging in the exhilaration of VR sim racing, Nantian 99 caters to a myriad of activities. OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The essence of Nantian 99 lies in its exceptional choice of materials, primarily sourced from the local region. These native materials not only harmonize with the natural surroundings but also possess the innate ability to evolve gracefully over time, forming a unique synergy with the site. From the selection of every component to the exclusive amenity programming, residents are fully immersed in an unparalleled living experience that exudes understated elegance. PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: Creating a sense of harmony entails achieving an impeccable blend of materials, functionality, and technology. This involves the creation of a Smart Home that seamlessly incorporates conventional outlet wall plates. For instance, the under-bed lighting can intelligently illuminate the floor without causing disruptions for others by activating upon detection. Every appliance is thoughtfully positioned, seamlessly integrating into the space. This includes a dual-access refrigerator, capable of opening from both left and right sides, as well as a water dispenser that can automatically boil and chill drinking water. SPECIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL PROPERTIES: 68 square metres TAGS: Interior design, Residential, Modern, Smart Home, Timeless Design RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Discover Nantian 99—a dwelling that goes beyond conventional boundaries, where time-honored charm intertwines with contemporary comforts, resulting in a harmonious haven that transcends expectations CHALLENGE: As the owner chose to renovate only a portion of the house, ensuring a seamless transition between the new and old sections becomes paramount. By utilizing materials from the original space, the design team has successfully maintained the charm of aged and uneven walls, harmoniously merging the freshly furnished areas with the vintage interior.
