PRIMARY FUNCTION: Track Shoes
INSPIRATION: Considering the requirements of numerous professional marathoners in shoes for races, the design team hopes to develop a pair of comfortable marathon racing shoes able to help runners save more physical strength.
UNIQUE PROPERTIES / PROJECT DESCRIPTION: As a pair of professional racing shoes for marathoners, 160X5.0 Pro features good comfort, excellent propulsive effect, light weight, high breathability and wonderful durability. It makes improvement in materials and structure to better satisfy the actual needs of marathoners, aiming to help them save more physical strength and improve their athletic performance.
OPERATION / FLOW / INTERACTION: The full length carbon fibre plate with high strength slightly upturned at the front part and the inner side of the middle part frees runners from unsteadiness on the forefoot and midfoot. The full length design, and the largely curved toe cap enable the release of more kinetic energy, so that runners can save more physical strength, whereby to enhance their performance.
PROJECT DURATION AND LOCATION: The design and development of this product started in Xiamen, in March, 2023. It was introduced to the market in China, in August, 2023.

PRODUCTION / REALIZATION TECHNOLOGY: The midsole frame is generated through 3D printing technology, while PISA supercritical foaming technology is innovatively introduced into the midsole foam to realize the strong cohesion and the resilience rate up to 85percent. The full length carbon fibre plate with high strength helps to stabilize the forefoot and midfoot and release more kinetic energy. The upper is made of lightweight, highly tough, meshed XTEP SHEEL.

RESEARCH ABSTRACT: Marathon running distinguishes itself from traditional track and field events with its long distance and duration, and shoes, besides physical strength, are also a key factor influencing performance of marathoners. Therefore, to ensure good comfort and help runners save physical strength during a marathon has become a main aim of shoe research and development.
CHALLENGE: The midsole frame is generated through new 3D printing technology, while PISA supercritical foaming technology is innovatively introduced into the midsole foam to realize the strong cohesion, so as to effectively avoid tearing during strenuous exercise. Such a material is 36 percent lighter and 28 percent more resilient than E T P U, which better assists athletes in saving their physical strength.
